Construction-ready

A 200 MW / 400 MWh standalone battery beside the Bungama substation, one of the most advanced large-scale BESS sites in South Australia. Development approval and AEMO’s Section 5.3.4A clearance are in hand, and the project is ready to proceed to connection agreement and construction.

A 250 MW battery in the Riverina with a storage duration of four to eight hours still to be decided — the largest storage project in Risen’s Australian pipeline. Land and development approval are secured; the generator performance standard package for connection to the Darlington Point substation is now being prepared.

Geranium Plains

Approved — grid connection in progress

A co-located solar farm and battery on a single approved site in South Australia’s Mid North, with room to expand both the solar and storage capacity. The hybrid connects through a new substation on the 275 kV Para–Robertstown transmission line.

A 250 MWh battery added to Risen’s operating 121 MW DC Yarranlea Solar Farm, sharing its site, lease and 132 kV grid connection. A planning amendment for the battery has been lodged and the connection package is ready for submission.

How a project gets built

Four stages from paddock to grid.

  1. 01

    Land secured

    Long-term lease or purchase rights over the site, with environmental and cultural-heritage assessments complete.

  2. 02

    Development approval

    State planning approval for the project as designed — the permit to build, subject to conditions.

  3. 03

    Grid connection

    Generator performance standards agreed with the network and AEMO, culminating in the Section 5.3.4A letter and an offer to connect.

  4. 04

    Construction

    Connection agreement executed, equipment procured and works under way through to commissioning and registration.
